For me, gifts are things that we give each other and that the receiver of the gift will enjoy and draw pleasure from. But I am also very practical and know that some gifts that help you save time, enable you to do something you wanted or help you with your work are also great gifts to give.

To be clear, I am not talking about an alarm clock (I got one once for Christmas and I wasn’t too pleased with it, plus I can get myself an alarm clock if I want one). I am talking about gadgets, tools, and presents that will make a difference to the way you do things and what you can achieve. And gifts that perhaps you wouldn’t get for yourself.

That’s where this list of (mostly) practical presents for busy blogger mums comes in. Some of the things in this list are things that I have found useful, have put in my wishlist or would love to get so that I can do more with my time and get more organised.

Best gifts for blogger mums: Equipment

Laptop

A laptop that is your own and that works. No more working from your OH’s old laptop. Have your own laptop and take it everywhere and customise it however you want. No, I don't mean for you to use computer stickers to decorate it, I mean that you install the tools you want and that will help you be more productive, none of his games.

You can get a lot of power for your money nowadays with a laptop and it helps that you can work from anywhere.

Kipling Laptop Bag

Cos you need something to carry your laptop if you are going somewhere. And cos Kipling bags are like Dr Who’s Tardis and you can fit a stupid amount of things in there + they make you look cool and stylish. This bag will fit a 13" or a 14" laptop.

webcam

For mom bloggers that want to do video tutorials or for course creators.

There's nothing to stop you doing videos from your phone or using your laptop's camera, but the quality will not be as good. The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 is the one I use. The quality is great, it is also very easy to install and is also a #1 Bestseller at Amazon.

Sound quality for me is more important than the quality of the video. Many times I listen to videos while I do other things. And I find it really annoying if the sound is too low, or there are too many background noises or the sound is not clear. The one on the left is the Blue Snowball iCE Condenser Microphone- Cardioid in Black. It's plug and play and is a must-have for anybody doing podcasts, online courses or doing a lot of video conferencing. It is the one I like. It's very affordable but the Blue Yeti is also one of the top choices for bloggers.

When you spend long hours in front of a computer or laptop, a good keyboard can make a huge difference. I've had a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard for so long that you can barely see the letters on them. It's the best keyboard I've ever had and I have used it at home at at work: It's fast (cos some other keyboards can't keep up with fast typists, really), it's comfortable to use and it's very very durable.

Anyway, that's my favourite but here you have some other choices:

noise cancelling headphones

Being able to shut yourself in your own little space is not always possible, but having these headphones can help. Get these so you can work and not be disturbed by noise or to help you relax when you listen to music as well. They're also great for travelling. These headphones are very affordable.

For those that want a top of the range option, here are some Bose headphones.

best Gifts For Beginner Blogger mums

webhosting

If you haven’t started your mom blog, web hosting as a gift is a great idea. It gives you a little push because if you don't use it, you're wasting it.

If you get a 3-year offer, it’s not expensive at all. I use Siteground, I chose it based on multiple recommendations and so far I haven’t had any problems with them and I am delighted with their customer service.

A Blogging Book

There are several books that are useful for beginner bloggers. I have selected a couple:

Blog by Number

Blog by Number

This is the ultimate guide to starting a mom blog. It guides you through all the steps you have to take so you know where to start and which tools you need. More importantly, it tells you WHEN to do them. Great for reducing the overwhelm of doing something new. But don’t forget blogging is a lot of hard work!

Problogger : Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income

This book is more general and useful for any blogger, not just mom bloggers. It’s in its third edition is one of the most popular books about blogging on Amazon. It also provides you with a great roadmap and is good for beginners and intermediate bloggers too.

A Stock Photo Membership

My two favourite Stock Photo Memberships are these two:

They both offer tremendous value for money and can make all your blog posts, social media content and other materials look stunning.

Scheduling tools

A year’s subscription to a scheduling tool is a great practical present. It will save you time and allow you to have more time with your family when they need you. For Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn I recommend SocialBee, for Pinterest Tailwind.

No idea about Instagram cos I don’t use it and Google+ I automate with IFTTT.

best gifts for blogger mums: planners

You can use Google Calendar to keep your appointments organised.  Or you can use electronic to-do lists. You can also write lists of things to do on a piece of paper.  This is fine if all you want is to get things done, but if what you want is to get things that matter done, doing it on a planner makes all the difference. A planner is not just for day-to-day tasks but it makes you look at your goals and how to achieve them.

It doesn’t matter if they are your year goals, your quarterly goals or your weekly goals. Having everything in front of you motivates you to get them done.

Here are three options. I have chosen these because they are undated, so it doesn’t matter when you start using them. Also,  each one of these planners services a different purpose and will suit different people.

This is the Passion Planner.

I first got to hear about it from a friend. She carries it everywhere and she fell in love with it from the start. This one I have chosen is the A5 size, so you can carry it with you wherever you go. If you want a planner that comes with lots of advice on how to use it and make the most of it, this is the one for you.

This is the Law of Attraction Life Planner

What’s different about this planner is that it helps you create positive habits. You can use it to plan your personal life and your business.  It helps you to become more productive by focusing on your top priorities and get more time for yourself. It is also very customisable and will help you with long-term and short-term goals.

This is Meera Kothand’s Create one-year blog and editorial planner.

This has been recently been published, and I haven’t seen it. All I can say is that Meera’s One Hour Content Plan was absolutely fantastic and if this is anything like the ebook, you won’t regret getting it. Great for beginner bloggers.

Echo Dot

Why do I put this here? It’s not cos I am a closet geek. Honest!

You can use it to dim your lights and play music, yes. But you can also use it to organise yourself. You know when you don’t have a pen handy? Why not dictate a note to Alexa? Create events in your calendar. Set a timer for when you’re working and want to be more productive. You can also use  www.ifttt.com  to connect it to your other tools, Google Drive, EvernoteTodoist and many more.

Useful Plugins

Plugins can make a great present for a blogger mom. It will save her time and help her grow her blog. My favourite ones are:

Thrive Leads for creating opt-ins and growing her email list.

Tasty Links to add affiliate links to blog posts easily and automatically.

Tasty Pins cos it makes adding pinnable images to blog posts easy.

Self-care Gifts for Blogging Moms

Most mom bloggers start their first blog as a side hustle or a hobby. So they're likely to be working on their blog in the evenings or while their kids have a nap. They're, more than likely, already working full-time and sitting in front of a laptop for a few hours more each day is not going to be great for their back.

This height adjustable standing desk is great if you can set up your own little corner for your blogging.

And being able to use it when you are sitting or standing is great if you have problems with your back or want to keep a little bit more active.

Here are some eyecaring lamps and some massagers to help as well.

Gifts for bloggers on the go

Being a mom and having a blog on the side sometimes means that you have to work in odd places. I have seen mom bloggers do Facebook lives from their car, or walking the dog or you sometimes have to work from the nearest coffee shop.

Here are two things that can help with this:

A Selfie Light:

Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot

I hope you got some ideas for gifts for this list. I know I am going to put a few of them on my own Xmas list this year.

  1. This was a great gift guide! I’d love a ring light for my phone and I’ve been looking for decent noise cancelling headphones for my partner so thanks for sharing!
